Rhythm for the Brain

Rhythm for The Brain sessions are multi-sensory percussion workshops. This is an inclusive activity and is suitable for adults of all ages, backgrounds and abilities. The exercises are simple so that people gain confidence quickly. As a participant-led activity everyone helps to shape and direct what happens in the session.

The benefits include:

  • Mental stimulation – ‘a workout for the brain’, including memory and sequencing exercises, following and giving instructions and using rhythm as a new form of communication.

  • Physical exercise – warm-ups and rhythm exercises to motivate and encourage moving, also helps balance and co-ordination

  • Social stimulation – everyone is equal and everyone’s contribution is valued. People are given the space they need to express themselves and build confidence.
